Commodore's December Newsletter

Published 09:23 on 1 Dec 2023

As we draw to a close our 120th Anniversary year, we can look back at what has been a great year, culminating in our Annual Dinner and Dance at the St Brelades Bay Hotel. We had fabulous music provided by Jessica Lloyd Chays and her band, with superb food provided by the hotel, providing a convivial atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. There are so many people who made this, such a success. A really big thank you to everyone.

BUT IT IS NOT all over yet!

The Christmas decorations have been put up and we enter the month of festive fun.

We have not just the one Christmas menu but two! The traditional Christmas and Chalet Brunos Continental are now available and can be found on our website. There is a Christmas Bingo night on Wednesday 13th, always a sell-out success.

The ever popular Alex Bleasby Merry Christmas Race takes place on Tuesday the 19th December, followed by a Festive Challenge on Saturday 23rd December.

It is a Festive Challenge with a difference this year and inclusive for both motor and sailing boats. After toasting the Club in festive attire, which will be judged by previous Commodores on the balcony, you are challenged to draw a festive picture in St Aubins Bay using the track on your chart plotter or portable device, using for example the Navionics or Strava app. The picture submitted to the Club, will be displayed on our large screen and judged by the children during our festive drinks and carols. Click here for more information and registration.

Father Christmas will be coming to the Club from over the water and there will be carols. Back by popular demand, we have our very own Sailing Secretary Nick OHare, who will be leading the singing. A great way to get into the Christmas mood if you are not already!

I'm delighted to announce that the 25th Anniversary version of the Jersey Cruising Guide is now available for collection from the Yacht Club. You can also download a digital version for your phone or tablet by following this link.
